Messermeister Chantry Knife Sharpener, Silver

Messermeister Chantry Knife Sharpener, Silver Review

Messermeister Chantry Knife Sharpener, Silver Feature

  • Pull-through knife sharpener in silver combines modern style with everyday functionality
  • Reproduces the action of a butcher's steel with spring loaded steel rods
  • To use, draw the knife between the steel rod 4 or 5 times using enough pressure to rotate the steels
  • Made in Sheffield, England; on permanent display in New York Museum of Modern Art
  • Replacement steels available; not recommended for fine edge elite knives or Japanese knives
This classic manual sharpener is designed by Taylor's Eye Witness, which was established in 1883. This full metal manual sharpener is manufactured in Sheffield England and is the finest pull through sharpener on the market. This unique design is on permanent display at the New York Museum of Modern Art. At the heart of the machines are two butcher steels; the same hardness, temper and cut as a professional steel. The steels are preset at the optimum angle and are spring loaded so as not to damage the knife. The steels revolve under tension and do not wear away the blade. To use, wipe the blade clean, draw the knife between the steel rods 4 or 5 times, as if slicing, and using enough pressure to rotate the steels. Use the Chantry frequently, preferably before each time a knife is used. The Chantry manual sharpener is not recommended for fine edge knives or Japanese knives.

The Cooks knife is the workhorse knife in any kitchen. Designed for a the multiple tasks of chopping, dicing and mincing. The Wusthof Culinar brush stainless handle design is combined with a contoured shape to add comfort and control. Located in The Cutlery Capital of the World, Solingen Germany, the Wusthof factory history goes back as far as 1814 when the company was listed with the Duchy of Berg. To this day, the company remains family owned. Throughout it’s history, Wusthof has focused almost solely on the manufacturing of forged knives for the professional chef and home cooking enthusiast. Wusthof uses a special blend of German steel through out the whole length of the knife. The ingredients of this steel are proudly etched on each blade. Wusthof not only uses the best materials to make a fine knife, but it is also crucial that each blade is precisely tempered. This tempering allows the knife to hold its edge for an extremely long time, yet still be able to be maintained in your home kitchen with out the need to be sent away for maintenance. Our unique compound angle is not seen in many knives. This angle tapers from the spine of the knife to the edge to allow for a sturdy, yet extremely sharp edge while it also tapers from the bolster to the tip to give the knife strength as well as flexibility.
